I am glad to say that I have arrived in Shediac Cape!! Things are going well....i now have all the Bloody boxes to unpack. It does not make for fun times! I survived my 1st commute to work.. It was really chilly last night down to the -27's or a bit cooler... Vivian doesn't have a block heater & I think I will need to buy one for her because it took 25 mins for her to warm up enough taht the temp needle was on the 1st!! line. I am not sure what she will do when it gets to -30 or -40 with the windchill??
So i am off in the am to clean and vacuum the old place and then I am off to shop!
I am happy to say that a lot of the stuff that I didn't want and didn't want to keep to sell I was able to get rid of!! I met my neighbours across the hall on Wednesday when I was putting stuff outside for when Meghan & her Mom arrived. I heard a knock on the door and when i opened it there was this lady who looks like she might be fromm Saudi Arabia or that area. She was asking if she could have what ever it was that I had put out in the hall. I said sure then she asked if i was selling anything tha ther family just moved to Canada.
Well I sold her 2 card tables for 5$ ... then I saw that she really has nothing in her apt and they have 2 kids. After that I gave her the rest of the crap I had in the house... she even took that nasty looking couch!!!! Now I just hope she doesn't change her mind before I hand over the keys!!
Well i must be off to think about unpacking the boxes... I am heading over to Meghans for a drink in a bit. My side is a mess of unpacked boxes.
Loving my new place,
Liz

My thoughts on being a Nurse
I never realized that I hadn't commented n the "you know your a Nurse when..." The reason is that some if not most of the things are true!!! Yes I said TRUE! I couldn't imgaine it really being true but they are.
Now Some of the best ones (in my opinion) are:
The TLC!!! I was just commenting on that the other day! But I tossed in some Injection H!! Thats the stuff baby!
The buzzer system comment!! When pts buzz to check and make sure the buzzer is working!! Its 2 am go to sleep!!!
The tape you use to wrap! Well, If everyoen looks real close you will see that your gifts are wrapped with hospital tape and that the shipping boxes are also wrapped with tape from the hospital!!
Everythign seems funny! there are things you will laugh about on nights that in NO way sound funny when you hear them later but at that time are so funny you laugh until you cry!
Avoid the phone!! That is sooo ture caller ID has saved me many times and I love it sooo!
Talking at dinner... Now no one has thrown up but they have complained that we are to loud because we are laughing at the stories we are sharing.... But I am sure it will happen soon! :)
Now the whole pen thing... that is soo not me! I come to work with 5 adn leave with 2 If i am lucky I leave with 3 but the 3rd one is 1 that I picked up!
Yes! I have given a pt my coworkers name!! But my co worker was right there... It was very funny and we all laughed!
the fear of CPR!!!! very true for one week straight I would ride the bus with this guy that carried his Nitro Spray in hand !!!!!!! then the cashier at Sobeys had one at her till!!!!!! Thank god I now have my one use CPR mask on my Key chain!! I hope to never have to use it!!!!!!!
The penis thing..... Is not ture yet...... but i am sure in a couple of years I will have out distanced some of the more senior of hookers!
Well thsoe are soem of my fav and ones that just made me luagh until I cried... Because i have done them.. Wait I missed that Shit one! We did that one day we described that shit from someones shoe!!! it was priceless... i can't remember if the Dr was there or not...hmmmm anyways it was funny!
I hope that everyone has soem that they like or have experienced 1st hand... WHo would want to live without these experiences?????

You know your a Nurse when...
I got this and I laughed until I cried!! It is sooo funny and soo ture all at the sametime!
Did you hear about the nurse who died and went straight to hell?? It took her two weeks to realize she wasn't at work!
You may be a nurse if..... You believe that every patient needs TLC...Temazepam, Lorazepam and Chlorpromazine.
You would like to meet the inventor of the nurse buzzer system some night in a dark alley.
You believe not all patients are annoying, some are unconscious.
Your sense of humour gets more warped each year.
Your kids get their presents in TED stockings and hospital pillowcases.
And their presents are wrapped with Micropore tape.
You know the phone number of every late night food delivery place by heart.
Almost everything can seem funny ... eventually.
When asked by the doctor what colour that patient's diarrhoea was, you show them your shoes.
If they missed your shoes, you use the well-known "poo curry colour scale"
ranging from chicken korma to spinach vindaloo.
You can identify different causes of diarrhoea by the smell of it.
Every time you walk you make a jingling noise because of all the keys, scissors and clamps in your pocket.
You can tell the pharmacist more about the medication they are dispensing than they know.
You use bladder lavage bags to drip water onto your plants when you're on holiday.
You refuse to watch Casualty because its too much like the real thing and it triggers flashbacks or...
Your family refuse to let you watch Casualty because you spend the whole time correcting everyone and pointing out upside down X-rays.
You avoid answering the phone on your day off in case anyone from the hospital
is trying to call and beg you to work.
You've been telling stories in a restaurant and made someone at another table throws up.
You notice that you are using even more 4 letter words than you did before you started nursing.
You've seriously considered catheterising your children before a long car journey.
Every time someone asks you for a pen you can find at least 4 of them on you.
Most of them have the names of laxatives on them.
You don't get excited about blood; unless it's your own.
You live by the motto "to be right is only half the battle, to convince the doctor is more difficult"
You've basted your Christmas turkey with a 50ml syringe.
You've told a confused patient that your name was that of your
co-worker and to shout if they need help.
Eating crisps out of a clean sick-bowl is perfectly normal.
Your bladder can expand to the size of a Winnebago's water tank.
When checking the level of a patient's orientation you aren't sure of the day yourself.
Or if nightshift, the month.
You find yourself checking out other customers' veins in supermarket queues.
You can sleep soundly at the hospital cafeteria table on your dinner
break and are not embarrassed when you wake up
You avoid unhealthy looking people in the shopping centre for fear that
they will drop dead near you and you'll have to do CPR on your day off.
You throw a farewell buffet for a co-worker and use a
bed sheet for a tablecloth and bedpans to hold the nachos.
You often stay awake for 24+ hrs at a time when you work nights and
realise you don't need alcohol or drugs to hallucinate just lack of sleep...
You pull over on the side of the road after working nights
because you are too tired to drive home and wake up to someone knocking on y
our window thinking you've had a stroke because you're passed out in your car drooling.
Your finger has gone into places you never thought possible.
You've seen more penises than any prostitute.
You've sworn to have "Do Not Resuscitate" tattooed on your chest.
Move in Wednesday!
Here it is!!
Pictures of the Penthouse with most of the things moved in.
Now all there is left to do is move in my junk!!!!

This is the kitchen!!

Here is the couch with the end tables!!
The most fabulous part of the whole place!!!!! The washer and dryer!!!!!! Are they not the most beautiful things you have ever seen??!!!
This is what the outside of the house looks like! My part of the house is on the left!

The Move is coming!!!!!!!!
I am glad to say that I have my moving dates... They are December 27 & 28th!!
I have those 2 days off so most of the move will happen then!!!!! I am getting very excited and I am trying to pack all the crap that I have. Most of the stuff that I have is Crap that I know I will never use; so I have become very ruthless and started to toss stuff left, right and center.
The pack rat in me is crying while the practical
I hate to move it, if I will not use it part is screaming, "Toss more shit Liz!!"
As, of right now I have packed all those stupid bathroom crap stuff. The 3 extra bottles of stuff I bought because it was cheap to buy 3 then 1 bottle at Yves Rocher... but I have like 5 products like that... Which means they need their own box!!! I wanted to pack the linens but they mostly are in the laundry pile... I guess that means I will have to start washing before I can pack any more of that stuff...
The scariest things to pack and I can feel them looming behind me is the textbooks. For those of you who have taken university or college course know that you spend an obscene amount of cash on a huge book that could be a table that weights on at 10 lbs. Well in the course of my 4 years I have bought many of those things... Which means I now have to move the suckers!
Now how many can you put in a box before you kill your back and end up in traction? As of yet I don't know the answer but when I find out I will let you know. i have a feeling it wont be many... Thank god there are only 2 steps in the new place!
Well, I must get back to packign and I guess doing laundry. Next week I will have my OWN washer and dryer and I can wash in my own kitchen and not leave the room!!!!!!
Dreaming of my own washing machine and dryer,
Liz
By the way stay tuned for Thursday afternoons posting of the Pent house pictures!! That's right folks I am off to pick up boxes at the place and I will have photos of the palace for you to see sometime Thursday evening!!!!

Guilty & sick calls
I have jsut made my first sick call to work in over 7 years. I have no idea why I hate the idea of calling in sick other people do it all the time. To do it I need to talk my self in to the fact that "yes, I feel like shit and No, I shouldn't work." then after the guilt starts to set in... Why is that?
I know that I am not really able to provide good care to my patients I have no problem saying no if I am asked to come in but I am in No condition to. So, what is the difference???
